I paint in rich color to communicate energy, contrast, and spontaneity. Often influenced by the shapes within wood grains, I generate composition from the lines of each unique piece of wood that I paint on, and develop color palettes along the way.

As much as color drives my work, I am also inspired by material. Using wood to generate composition, and resin to invite a dimension of reflection, I am drawn to the relationships between color and texture, and the ability for physical materials to enhance visual sensations.

My fascination with material, as well as my love for all things word related– typography, writing, and literature– have driven me to learn letterpress and screen printing. Both of these skills, that I am continuing to develop, allow me to merge my interests in color, material, and text.

At Cornell I am a double major in History and Africana Studies, and my fascination about the past and its implications on the present are always fueling my creative pursuits.

As an artist, I hope to create work that reflects both my inner world and my never ending curiosity with the one in which we all live.

working with resin. . .

In 2020 I began working with resin and it has remained a staple in my work ever since.
